Museum Overview
The Pink Palace Museum and Planetarium in Memphis, Tennessee is one
of the most pupular museums in the city. The museum, which serves
as the Mid-South's major science and historical museum, is a part
of the Pink Palace Family of Museums, a collection of historic and
educational attractions maintained by the City of Memphis and Memphis
Museums, Inc.
The Pink Palace Mansion was designed in the early 1920s to be the
home of Clarence Saunders, a prominent Memphian and founder of Piggly
Wiggly stores. In the late 1920s the home was given to the city of
Memphis to be used as a museum. Today the Mansion features fascinating
exhibits such as Museum Memories, Memphis Music and Changing Roles
of Women.
Exhibits
You are welcome to explore the cultural and natural history of the
Mid-South through exciting exhibits, dioramas, and audio-visuals.
Permanent exhibits of the Pink Palace Museum and Planetarium include
Cultural History of the Mid-South, Natural History Exhibits, The Mansion.

Sunday 12pm - 5pm
The Pink Palace Museum is closed to the public on Thanksgiving,
Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
