Museum Overview

The Pink Palace Museum and Planetarium in Memphis, Tennessee is one of the most pupular museums in the city. The museum, which serves as the Mid-South's major science and historical museum, is a part of the Pink Palace Family of Museums, a collection of historic and educational attractions maintained by the City of Memphis and Memphis Museums, Inc.

The Pink Palace Mansion was designed in the early 1920s to be the home of Clarence Saunders, a prominent Memphian and founder of Piggly Wiggly stores. In the late 1920s the home was given to the city of Memphis to be used as a museum. Today the Mansion features fascinating exhibits such as Museum Memories, Memphis Music and Changing Roles of Women.
